Promoting Your Blog – 30 Minute a Day Blog Promotion

Promoting Your Blog – 30 Minute a Day Blog Promotion Part 1 – Research
By M. Nielsen

Promoting your blog can seem like a task that can easily take up hours upon hours of your time every single day. Think about it! There are so many things you would like to do to promote your blog. This is only natural as every blogger wants his or her blog to be as successful as possible. On the other hand, there are only so many hours in a day. What’s the lesson here? The lesson is that you need to make the most of your time and ensure that you spend your time where it has the most value to you. The system I’ll show you will take less than 30 minutes a day to accomplish when you have set it up correctly. The focus of this article is the research you need to do to make your blog promotion work.

Step 1: Keyword Research

The first day you will focus on keyword research. You need to find “high traffic – low competition” keywords that are relevant to your niche. The tool I suggest you use is the Google External Keyword tool. The reason I suggest this tool is that it’s free and since Google rely on their advertisers to make money it’s a fair bet that it’s reasonably accurate. Look for keywords that get a good amount of searches, but have low competition in the green bar. Add those keywords to your list.

That’s keyword research at its very basics. There is plenty more you can learn about the topic so I can only encourage you to make further studies into this area. This step takes about 30 minutes by itself and is not something you should do every day. Doing it once a month should give you enough material for an entire months worth of blog posts.

Step 2: Content Research

Pick a keyword and do a search on EzineArticles, Google and Wikipedia for that keyword. You need to find 4 – 6 tips for your keyword. Don’t spend more than 5 minutes on this step. You need to make sure that the tips you find are tips you can elaborate on. If you don’t think there is anything more to be said about any given tip it’s probably not a good idea to use it for your blog writing. You need to be able to write 4 – 6 sentences that elaborate on each of the tips you find.

And if you want to know more about Promoting your blog you need to have a system in place. At his blog, http://www.netscribepro.com, M. Nielsen provides information on writing for the internet. Go there today to learn more about blogging and online writing in general.

5 Easy Tips to Promote Your Website

We’ve all heard the old expression, “It’s like trying to find a needle in the haystack”.  There are many great wahms out there that have great websites and wonder why they haven’t seen success.  I would think that the biggest reason is that one one knows it’s there.  There are an estimated 50 million websites out there and the internet is growing daily.

If you are new to the internet as many wahms are, no not new like you just got a computer but new that you are just beginning the journey of trying to make money online.  It’s very important that there are ways to find your website in the 50 million pieces of hay.

To do this you need to put the link or url to your site in places that people and search engines can find it.

Here are five quick ways to get your link out there for people and search engines to find you.

1.  You can use a traffic exchange program.  I like to use http://www.linkreferral.com This is a tedious but effective way to kick start your site.  You visit other peoples site and are put on a list so other can come and see yours.  While some of the experts would say this is a big waste of time, I would say it’s well worth the almost half an hour a day it takes to do it.  I started with Link Referral almost five years ago with one of my websites.  I was able to get my links out with exchanges, have customers and even build some lasting relationships with other wahms I found there.

2.  I just mentioned link exchanges in your first step.  A link exchange is when you agree with the other site to display a person’s website if they will display yours.  You can look down on our page here  where you will see our blog roll.  These are other blogs that have decided to enter this mutual relationship with us.

3. Message boards – Not only are they a great place to put your link.  Wahm message boards are a good place to learn from other wahms and network.  We have on here and welcome other work at home moms to join into the conversation and get to know other moms that are in working from home whether you work for a business or own your own.

4.  Facebook and other social networking is a great way to get the word out about your website.  I post my links on my page for my own business and for those of my wahm friends.  Most will do the same for you.

5.  Market your website in the signature of your personal email.  I like to send out funny but clean emails to my friends and family.  If they are good ones you know they will forward them onto their friends too.  So, there goes the link to your website on and on attached to the bottom of that email.  You just never know who might see it. :)

All of these things are pretty simple to get done.  I have found that you need to be promoting your business regularly for the best results.  It’s important to schedule in time to promote yourself at least a couple of times a week.

10 Simple Business Ideas

Other moms are always asking me how they can make money without getting a job.  Below you’ll find ten simple business ideas.  Some are work at home ideas and some are work from home ideas.  Most of them anyone could do!

Auction Business – There are several options for this. You can contract to sell other peoples items or you can sell your own items new or used. This can be a quick way to make money if you don’t have much time to build a business. To find items to sell look for deals at garage sales and on craigslist.com Just make sure you know you can profit on what you are buying.

Bookkeeping Service – Do you have great accounting skills? Work for businesses or individuals. You can also consult on a personal level on budget planning, etc.

Childcare – For this you need to make sure you comply with local and state government requirements. In Texas you can check out: http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/child_care/about_child_care_licensing/

Computer Tutor – Say that five times fast. No, seriously, if you are great with computers this may be a perfect job for you, whether one on one or teaching groups. Look into local parks and recreation programs to sign up to teach classes.

Direct Sales – These are companies like Avon, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Partylite, and those “fun” parties too. I have done party plans before and found it to be a very fun experience.

Editing Service – If you are a grammar master this could be an excellent job for you. Check out http://www.demandstudios.com

House Cleaning – Another great idea for someone with older children if you don’t want to have to worry about daycare.

House Sitter – You can decide if you are a drop in sitter or someone who actually stays while the person is out of town.  Google house sitting to find services to sign up with.  Working through a company can offer you protection.  You could do it on your own though through personal referrals.

Pet Sitter – Whether it’s a daily walk while the fur baby parents are at work or for out of town care taking.  Same as above you could work through a service or through personal referrals.

Photographer – If you have a knack for photography. This could be a great freelance business in the way of setting our own hours. One can also sell their photos at http://www.dreamstime.com or http://www.istockphoto.com If you are good, families are always looking for affordable potraits. This could be to your advantage as most professional photography studios charge so much for each print after the sitting fees. I know of a wahm that charges $75 per hour for sittings. She then give the family the disc so they can print all the pictures they want. What a deal and she is doing well with her home business.

Best wishes on your wahm adventures!
